What is MRSS Over FTP?
MRSS Over FTP is a mass upload solution for partners that want to host their MRSS Feed .xml and video files on servers provided by us. If you wish to upload your video content using MRSS Over FTP, our support team can provide you with an FTP folder location to which you can push your content video files and your .xml MRSS Feed.
Important! To perform this method of content ingestion you must provide your support representative with an example of the .xml metadata file structure in advance. This will be used to create a transformation protocol to convert your metadata to our internal format.
To use MRSS Over FTP you will need the following:
- Create a Feed - Create a Feed object in the Portal and set the 'Feed Type' field to 'MRSS Over FTP'. After creating the Feed, contact our support team to request an FTP Folder setup. Please provide the current Feed ID and Company ID.
Note: For further details, please see How to create a Feed.
- MRSS Feed .xml File - This is your MRSS feed that you will host on the FTP folder we will provide you with. Your MRSS .xml file should comply with our MRSS format.
Note: The <media:content url> tag in your feed should reference the location of the video files under the FTP folder. There is no need to enter the full URL address as the Feed and the Video files are hosted in the same directory.
Note: For further detail, please see Requirements for MRSS Feeds.
- Video files - These are the content videos that will you will upload to the FTP folder we will provide you with. These videos will be imported by your MRSS .xml file that contains all the information on the videos under the FTP folder. These are videos with extensions such as: .mov, .mp4, .flv, .avi etc.
After receiving your FTP credentials from our support team, simply login to the FTP folder and upload your MRSS .xml feed and all the accompanying video files to the FTP folder. The Feed object you created will import the videos using the Feed .xml file.
